The taxonomy of immovable cultural heritage was derived from the Registry of Immovable Cultural Heritage, which was further developed and upgraded for the needs of DEDI.

The taxonomy of natural heritage was derived from the Register of Natural Values, which was further developed and upgraded for the needs of DEDI.

The taxonomy of living cultural heritage was derived from the findings of the CRP Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage (2007-2008), implemented by the Institute of Slovenian Ethnology of the ZRC SAZU.

The taxonomy of movable cultural heritage was derived from the Rules on determining the type of objects of cultural heritage and from the Identification form of the cultural heritage object. This taxonomy was further developed and upgraded for the needs of DEDI.
